What is the Sunderland Community Network (SCN)?
The SCN is a network of voluntary and community sector organisations based in Sunderland. In common with others around the country, the Network was initially developed to support voluntary and community sector (VCS) involvement in the Sunderland Partnership and supporting structures.
What is the purpose of the Network?
The main aim of the Network is to develop voluntary and community sector collaboration, bringing organisations together in an atmosphere of support to solve existing and emerging challenges that affect them and the communities they serve, and that can best be solved by working collectively rather than by one group alone.
By joining the SCN, voluntary and community groups have the opportunity to:
- influence local service provision within Sunderland
- find out what is happening locally in Sunderland, share ideas and meet others
- influence local decision making
The SCN works collaboratively with the Council and other partners at a city and area level through the Area VCS Networks and its role as a key partner in the Sunderland Partnership.
This is the way the structure is currently, it is undergoing a period of change and restructure – further information to follow.
