Area VCS Networks

Area Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Networks operate in the five areas of the City, at an area level. Membership is open to all VCS organisations in Sunderland, and each Network is co-chaired by the Area Committee Vice-Chair and a VCS representative.

Aims

The Networks meet regularly to:

  • develop and share good local VCS practice
  • raise and address local VCS issues
  • support the delivery of Local Area Plans and Responsive Local Services
  • influence strategic policies and practice

Please see the Terms of Reference for further information.

Meetings

The dates of the Area VCS Network meetings scheduled for 2011-2012 can be found here, along with agendas and minutes of the previous meetings.

If you are interested in becoming a member of your Area VCS Network, please contact your Area Community Coordinator.

Representation on Sunderland City Council Area Committees

Each Area VCS Network nominates three representatives to sit on the Council Area Committees to take forward issues on behalf of the whole VCS in the area and report back to Area VCS Network members, providing a two-way flow of communication between SCN and Area Committee.
