Fairtrade Fortnight 2011 is fast approaching and Sunderland Partnership is getting involved.
Here in Sunderland we are a recognised Fairtrade City and we are supporting Fairtrade Fortnight 2011, which is running from 28th February through to 13th March.

For Fairtrade Fortnight 2011 we're asking the nation to show off about buying Fairtrade which offers 7.5 million people in the developing world a more secure future.
You can show off Fairtrade any way you want. Take part in our bunting record attempt, hold a fashion show with your friends, or be loud and proud about how your business supports farmers and workers in developing countries.
We've got all sorts of tools to help you do it. So whether you're a school, business, supporter or campaign group, look around this site, get inspired and get ready to Show Off Your Label.
Here’s what some of the city’s Fairtrade Partners are up to during Fairtrade Fortnight...
A Fairtrade Tea Party hosted by the Mayor of Sunderland is being organised on Tuesday 1st March 2pm-4pm
Those attending will be decorating FT bunting to support the Fairtrade Foundation attempt at creating a world record for the longest piece of bunting.

A Fairtrade Information and display is being held at the City Library and Arts Centre Foyer in Fawcett Street from Monday 28th February until Saturday 12th March. Visitors can get a range of information on Fairtrade and find out more about Fairtrade. Organised by Soroptimist International Sunderland, Sunderland City Council and Shared Interest.
Fulwell Mill Foods in Southwick will be hosting a number of school visits during the fortnight.
For the second year running the Co-operative Membership team is collaborating with Daisy Green Events to host their International Women’s Day event on Sunday 6th March, 1pm-4pm at Newcastle Assembly Rooms.
The event will celebrate women, fair trade and locally run businesses.
At the event those attending will also be making Fairtrade bunting to help the Fairtrade Foundation to break the world record for the world's longest string of bunting.
Shared Interest are organising an event to explore how investing with organisations such as Shared Interest and Oikocredit can help provide the vital finance that enable ethical business to trade and prosper.
